Video & Animation
Integrating technology with creativity leads to learning! Students of all ages, even young first graders, can appreciate the opportunity to create with technology. When teachers can promote the creative-side of technology, learning can occur as students are engaged and not just following directions or instructions. Combining creativity and technology in group projects also empowers students with varying levels of technology experience to feel successful.
This video artifact allows students to use their knowledge of the subject matter (in this case the novel, My Father's Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett) to collaboratively create a video book report. The video, made with iMovie, advances the students' learning experience immensely because they are collabloratively creating something. The students were able to read the novel, write summaries of chapters, illustrate those ideas, and then ultimately piece everything together into a video class project.
This video artifact meets the following standard:
ISTE - International Society for Technology in Education - Standards for Teachers
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
a. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative process.
