I love people and I love building relationships with families and students of all ages.
I began my education career in Alaska. Before teaching full time, I completed my internship (student teaching) in a 5th grade classroom. I taught kindergarten and 2nd grade in Anchorage, Alaska before moving to Oregon. After moving to beautiful Bend, Oregon I was hired to teach 2nd grade, then 1st grade. I now teach 4th grade.
I’m a 3rd generation teacher. My grandmother began her teaching career in the 1930s and my parents taught in elementary schools for 36 years in California before retiring.
I was born and raised on the northern coast of California. My husband was born and raised in Alaska... Now Central Oregon is our family’s home and we couldn’t be happier here. My family and I love to camp, ride bikes, and we love to escape to the mountains and lakes whenever we can. I love to garden, travel with my family, cook, and photograph nature.
I'm passionate about integrating art and creativity into my daily classroom routines. I strive to teach and model for my students the importance of balancing technology use with other activities. Technology has a valuable place in our lives, but balance is key. In my classroom, I stress the importance of social relationships, fresh air, movement, and creative expression.
